It was just the second win for New York in their last dozen league matches. New York (6-3-10, 28 points) provisionally move into first place in the Eastern Conference. They continue their homestand on Saturday against rivals D.C. United. Toronto (3-8-9, 18 points) remain eighth in the East, and will look to rebound when they play in Houston on Saturday night.
